Rowan,
Since it's a short hike in Coe is also a great place for fleece, bulky and heavy poly fill jackets, etc. No need to be uncomfortable.
Nov 13, 2012 at 9:40 pm #1928202Ken,
Whats the ante going to be per person this year?
Thanks, Jack
Nov 13, 2012 at 9:50 pm #1928206@ Jack. $15 per and we'll have room to spread out.
Nov 13, 2012 at 10:01 pm #1928209Sounds good, I might be +1
Nov 14, 2012 at 7:31 am #1928260Change of heart, there is a good chance that I will be attending. Paypal funds?
Nov 14, 2012 at 9:45 am #1928296Ken,
I'm planning on attending. How would you like payments/contributions sent?
Thanks,
Richard
Nov 14, 2012 at 12:29 pm #1928338Just a suggestion to everyone who will be attending….bring extra layers that you would not normally consider taking on a backpacking trip.
Expect to be standing around or sitting and chatting with friends and new found friends for many hours into the night.
I have taken my insulated layers like my Montbell Thermawarp pants and I now have a Montbell Down Jacket that I will be bring to the GGG.
Given the short distance for the hike to the campsites and lack of phsyical activity from standing around with others, you might as well layer up and be toasty warm.
Enjoying the outdoors is all about being dry and warm, so layer up and make sure you have decent rain gear…in case it rains.
Yeah, I have lightweight O2 Raingear that I will bring, but I will likely take my heavy REI rain gear as backup. (I have not used my O2 Rain gear in the rain before…so it may be a good time to test it out).
Warm booties are a nice luxury to have to walk around in if it is not muddy.
A cheap suggestion for keeping warm feet and keeping things light….grab some UPS plastics shipping bags/envelopes and cut them down to sock size.
They are a waterproof, strong, light, and "free" vapor barrier that can worn over your socks and in your trail runners to keep your feet warmer in wet weather.
Looking forward to the next GGG and seeing you all.

Nov 14, 2012 at 8:02 pm #1928449Sounds like I need to do another BPL so cal desert hike that weekend.
It'll be anti-GGG 2.0
Benefits of the 2011 anti-GGG trip to Anza Borrego:
– No snow
– BLUE skies
– crisp and crystal clear night sky
– Moon phase about 13% (waning)
– No campfires separate us from our environment
– Saw NO other humans over the route
– Views of San Ysidro and Santa Rosa mountains
– Got a feel for how Native Americans picked their routes (trails)
– 50 mph winds to test out our shelters and non-shelters
– Large secluded area for group camp
– No group games or activities:-)
Nov 14, 2012 at 8:15 pm #1928451Can I go? I'll keep everyone busy somewhere else that weekend.
Nov 14, 2012 at 8:33 pm #1928455Gotcha!
Of course you'd be welcome. Not sure I am up to organizing another trip. Too much work; or too much like work. Don't know how you do it.
Nov 15, 2012 at 10:20 am #1928570Phoebe and I will be there again this year. Will Paypal funds.

Good through the weekend.
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
The GGG cannot happen without your financial support. Money is tight this year, I don't have the spare cash to reserve $470+ of campsites.
Nov 24, 2012 at 4:03 pm #1930765Bump, 63 days away.
Nov 24, 2012 at 8:40 pm #1930822Looking forward to it. Hope the weather holds up or I'm sleeping in Josh's toasty warm backcountry condo/sweat lodge.
Paypal for $15 on its way. Black Friday sale aside, happy to pay more if you need it. Just let me know.

Nov 25, 2012 at 7:55 pm #1931073Hi Ken, payment sent. Andrea and I are so looking forward.
One thing we are very thankful for this holiday season is you and our BPL family. Happy Thanksgiving!
Will be bringing a friend who is a new cottage gear maker of ultralight stove systems, who will be raffling off a full kit. Will post details soon.
Please let me know if you need us to put up a little more to help cover missing funds before others jump in.

Nov 26, 2012 at 10:02 am #1931194Just sent you my $15, Ken. Larry may make it, hasn't decided yet. If so, I'll PP some more $.
I'm excited about Amy & Jim's bird talk, also the Gaia app presentation. Thanks for arranging all the "extras"!
Planning on arriving Saturday A.M. Any chance that someone will be driving or biking stuff in to the campsite then and could transport the box of brownies? That would enable me to bring a smaller pack (and more brownies…).
