If you're in SoCal and have a Big 5 near you, the flyer in today's paper includes two UL-style "neck knives" that fans of the CRKT products may recognize very quickly. (http://www.crkt.com/smallsurvivalknives)
The first knife is the lighter of the two:
It includes a fairly beefy Kydex sheath and a metal bead necklace.
24 grams, with the light lanyard. The second knife is a tanto-bladed item:
This one also includes a Kydex sheath and necklace. The knife draws cleanly from the sheath.
This one's 38 grams, and took a fine edge with a few swipes on the $4 ceramic sharpener. Each of these is currently $9.99 at Big 5.

Sep 22, 2012 at 6:49 am #1914580I've been using the pair to slash/breakdown boxes and mail all week, cutting cardboard, tape and paper, as well as some plastic straps, food bags and wrappings. Both knives were sharp and burr-free out of the box, but I dressed the edge on both with one of those pocket ceramic sharpeners, anyway…what's good enough for the 30-year old Opinel is good enough for these, eh?
The tanto-bladed knife took a very nice edge and has kept it. The skeleton knife's shape focuses a lot of work onto the belly of the blade and that's lost some keen but is still good. For Ten Bucks, these are good.

Oct 22, 2012 at 12:43 pm #1923687These two knives are on-sale for ten bucks at Big 5, again this week. They also have a longer, finger-through-the-handle skeleton framed version.
