    @gbouchar

    I have been using a Speedy Stitcher for heavyduty repair a few times over the years. I like the handling for repairing thing in the field. Now, do an ultralight stitching awl exist? I would bring it in my repair kit. Maybe a sewing machine needle?

    Any suggestion?

    Chouinard used to make a great little awl that was included in a sewing kit (leather case). It uses heavy duty sewing machine needle in a clamp like the end of the speed stitcher and a split pin for a t handle. Overall weight 7 grams (.25oz).

    Thanks Mark.

    I followed this link and it led me to take a look at jewelers pin vise. It seem they could hold sewing machine needle. I will buy one to see.
