Any interest and any ideas for a more accomodating location that might help attract more geeks.
Aug 24, 2012 at 10:35 am #1905656I would be up for one in Michigan.
Aug 24, 2012 at 11:50 am #1905682Stephen would you consider NE Illinois or Indiana. Michigan is very easy to get to if you are in say… Michigan, however very tough to get to from a lot of states due to the little lakes surrounding you. Im trying to find an area that will draw more people and hopefully still get some /most/all of the origional group to come. Speak to me people!!!
Aug 24, 2012 at 12:05 pm #1905688Hi Mark,
I would travel to NE Illinois or Indiana once the drive was not longer than 4-5 hours for me.
The last Mid West one was an 11 hour drive for me so that's why I didn't go.Cheers
Aug 28, 2012 at 5:13 am #1906763Mark,
Can't make it this fall. However I will be doing 5 days and aprx 40 miles on the SHT if anyone is interested.Aug 28, 2012 at 5:54 am #1906770The "midwest" is a very large geographic area. Maybe too large for a single event?
Who would be up for something in MN?
Aug 28, 2012 at 8:15 am #1906811I'd be up for Anything within an 8 or so hour drive from Madison.
Aug 28, 2012 at 8:23 am #1906815Mn is too far for me.
Aug 28, 2012 at 10:41 am #1906865Mary thanks for the positive can do attitute Im sure we can get within 8 hours of madison, most likely a whole lot closer. Right now I want to find where the interest is from and try to find a area thats closest for the majority of people
Aug 28, 2012 at 10:44 am #1906868Lets hope something works out, maybe we should have two.

Aug 28, 2012 at 11:40 am #1906881Like others have said, I'd need it to be a bit more South and(or) East than where it was last year. The MW is a vast area. We may need two in order to be practical for the masses(I wish that wasn't the case though).
There are great trails in the hills of Southern Indiana and it's a central location if people would like to do an event there.
Aug 28, 2012 at 11:59 am #1906888I dont mind where its on, once its not a crazy distance from.
Jim whats the name of those hills in Indiana.
Aug 28, 2012 at 12:53 pm #1906910Minnesota might work for me.
Aug 28, 2012 at 12:55 pm #1906911I can't say there is a "Name" so to speak. But if you want more info regarding location, you can search on these names:
Hoosier National Forest
Charles Deam WildernessThere's a lot within 20 miles of Bloomington, IN.
If people are interested, I can help plan out a hike and site location depending on what type of trip we think we will do(hike/camp time ratio).

Aug 28, 2012 at 2:32 pm #1906952Josh, Your PM finally got here.
Aug 28, 2012 at 4:21 pm #1906986Cheers Jim, will check those out.
I am tied up every weekend until the start of October but free then.
Aug 28, 2012 at 7:00 pm #1907041I would be up for something in MN. When and where?
and
Minnesota might work for me.Well, September is full for me and I stay out of the woods during firearms deer hunting season (Nov 3-18) and MN state parks apparently shutdown all camping in November:-(
There are some southeastern MN state parks that appear to have group campsites available the last weekend of Oct if folks don't mind cost sharing (typically $85 per night for the site)
I'm looking southeast figuring it might work for IA, and some WI folks but if you know of other options please speak up.
Aug 28, 2012 at 8:55 pm #1907081I would have nothing against going to MN. Beaver creek vally state park sounds good to me ;^)
Aug 28, 2012 at 9:01 pm #1907083David Noll did you get the PM I sent earlier today? I know we have had problems with that in the past

Sep 4, 2012 at 1:38 am #1908894Depending on the date I would love to do one in MN. Can also do WI as long as it is close to the MN side.
