Any interest and any ideas for a more accomodating location that might help attract more geeks.

Stephen would you consider NE Illinois or Indiana. Michigan is very easy to get to if you are in say… Michigan, however very tough to get to from a lot of states due to the little lakes surrounding you. Im trying to find an area that will draw more people and hopefully still get some /most/all of the origional group to come. Speak to me people!!!

    Hi Mark,

I would travel to NE Illinois or Indiana once the drive was not longer than 4-5 hours for me.
The last Mid West one was an 11 hour drive for me so that's why I didn't go.

    Cheers

The "midwest" is a very large geographic area. Maybe too large for a single event?

Who would be up for something in MN?

Like others have said, I'd need it to be a bit more South and(or) East than where it was last year. The MW is a vast area. We may need two in order to be practical for the masses(I wish that wasn't the case though).

There are great trails in the hills of Southern Indiana and it's a central location if people would like to do an event there.

I can't say there is a "Name" so to speak. But if you want more info regarding location, you can search on these names:

    Hoosier National Forest
    Charles Deam Wilderness

There's a lot within 20 miles of Bloomington, IN.

If people are interested, I can help plan out a hike and site location depending on what type of trip we think we will do(hike/camp time ratio).

I would be up for something in MN. When and where?
    and
    Minnesota might work for me.

Well, September is full for me and I stay out of the woods during firearms deer hunting season (Nov 3-18) and MN state parks apparently shutdown all camping in November:-(

There are some southeastern MN state parks that appear to have group campsites available the last weekend of Oct if folks don't mind cost sharing (typically $85 per night for the site)

I'm looking southeast figuring it might work for IA, and some WI folks but if you know of other options please speak up.

Depending on the date I would love to do one in MN. Can also do WI as long as it is close to the MN side.
