Ooh, burn. That's true, Casey. I'll try not to bring snow and torrents this time.

Me and my wife will be leaving from the Dublin/Pleasanton bart station around 5:00 PM on Friday. I have room for a couple more in my truck if anyone is looking for a carpool. Would prefer to meet at bart, but might be able to pick you up along the way. Drop me a line if interested.

Sounds great. I've never been to the Trinity Alps and thought I'd try it next summer…but here's a fun group outing already planned.

I'll be coming up Thursday evening and crashing at the trailhead too.

Ken-thanks for putting this in motion!

I'm in Berkeley. If anyone wants to join me in my car Thursday evening, let me know.

I'd like to stay through most of Sunday and get back around 10pm maybe.

Do you know if the "parking area" is a campground or just a parking area?

Temps appear to have been high during day and only moderate lows with no rain. Hopefully it stays that way over the next two weeks just to keep things simple.

What would be the worst weather you could run in to that time of year? Snow? I know that the Sierras can get nasty weather right around the start of October, but I have no idea if the Trinities are different.

Snow does not start until later, usually around Thanksgiving. Chance for late afternoon Thunderstorms perhaps. Has been nice last few years. The forecast changes so much up here I would not look at weather predictions until a day or so before you go.

I worry more about a fire smoking things up for us.

Ken, What lake do think we will be visiting or camping at? Lots of options out there. Are these fishing lakes?

Jay you have more than a half dozen lakes to choose from. Some have fish from what I'm told.

Ken, Whats your preference? I see a lot of lake out there but I am not familiar with them or are you just going to go with flow?

I want to do the Four Lakes Loop. Summit Lake is pretty good size, rainbow and brook trout. I'll have to look in the guidebook. Brook trout in Diamond Lake.
    Pan size brooks in Luella.
    Trout in Lake Anna also.

Y'all know which "wilderness" this is in? Is it the Marble Mountains?

    Justin. Dude. Trinity Alps…

Shasta-Trinity, Klamath, & Six Rivers National Forests

The Marbles are further north from where we are going.

Just returned from a weekender from the Trinity Alps Wilderness at the end of August. Did the Big Bear TH. Uphill the whole way. It was great. Anywhere you go the Trinity Alps are beautiful. Heard some word about bears, but didn't see any. Didn't even hang the bear bag, likewise with the other camps near us.

Some pictures here if anyone interested. Not lightweight on this trip, but I'm working on it…

Mid to low 40's and about 80 during the day. Looks like we are in a big high so should be clear and dry. Bring sunscreen.

So you'll have to behave then Jacob.

Just over a week away. Any questions? I'll be taking off next Thursday(not tomorrow), so don't wait until then.
