Ooh, burn. That's true, Casey. I'll try not to bring snow and torrents this time.
Sep 10, 2012 at 2:20 pm #1910962Me and my wife will be leaving from the Dublin/Pleasanton bart station around 5:00 PM on Friday. I have room for a couple more in my truck if anyone is looking for a carpool. Would prefer to meet at bart, but might be able to pick you up along the way. Drop me a line if interested.
Sep 12, 2012 at 6:06 am #1911520Just over two weeks away. Man this month is dragging along!
Sep 12, 2012 at 10:07 pm #1911851I'm excited too. It will great to meet everyone.
Sep 13, 2012 at 8:27 pm #1912122Sounds great. I've never been to the Trinity Alps and thought I'd try it next summer…but here's a fun group outing already planned.
I'll be coming up Thursday evening and crashing at the trailhead too.
Ken-thanks for putting this in motion!
Sep 13, 2012 at 8:30 pm #1912124I'm in Berkeley. If anyone wants to join me in my car Thursday evening, let me know.
I'd like to stay through most of Sunday and get back around 10pm maybe.
Sep 15, 2012 at 8:47 pm #1912605Do you know if the "parking area" is a campground or just a parking area?
Sep 15, 2012 at 8:57 pm #1912607Parking Area.
Sep 15, 2012 at 9:21 pm #1912611Temps appear to have been high during day and only moderate lows with no rain. Hopefully it stays that way over the next two weeks just to keep things simple.
Sep 15, 2012 at 9:51 pm #1912614What would be the worst weather you could run in to that time of year? Snow? I know that the Sierras can get nasty weather right around the start of October, but I have no idea if the Trinities are different.
Sep 15, 2012 at 9:59 pm #1912617Snow does not start until later, usually around Thanksgiving. Chance for late afternoon Thunderstorms perhaps. Has been nice last few years. The forecast changes so much up here I would not look at weather predictions until a day or so before you go.
I worry more about a fire smoking things up for us.
Sep 16, 2012 at 9:42 am #1912677Ken, What lake do think we will be visiting or camping at? Lots of options out there. Are these fishing lakes?
Sep 16, 2012 at 9:46 am #1912678Jay you have more than a half dozen lakes to choose from. Some have fish from what I'm told.
Sep 16, 2012 at 10:00 am #1912682Ken, Whats your preference? I see a lot of lake out there but I am not familiar with them or are you just going to go with flow?
Sep 16, 2012 at 10:09 am #1912685I want to do the Four Lakes Loop. Summit Lake is pretty good size, rainbow and brook trout. I'll have to look in the guidebook. Brook trout in Diamond Lake.
Pan size brooks in Luella.
Trout in Lake Anna also.Sep 16, 2012 at 10:16 am #1912688Four Lakes Loop sounds and looks great!
Sep 17, 2012 at 4:21 pm #1913089Y'all know which "wilderness" this is in? Is it the Marble Mountains?
Sep 17, 2012 at 4:50 pm #1913099Justin. Dude. Trinity Alps…
Shasta-Trinity, Klamath, & Six Rivers National Forests
The Marbles are further north from where we are going.
Sep 17, 2012 at 6:15 pm #1913128Just returned from a weekender from the Trinity Alps Wilderness at the end of August. Did the Big Bear TH. Uphill the whole way. It was great. Anywhere you go the Trinity Alps are beautiful. Heard some word about bears, but didn't see any. Didn't even hang the bear bag, likewise with the other camps near us.
Some pictures here if anyone interested. Not lightweight on this trip, but I'm working on it…
Sep 17, 2012 at 6:19 pm #1913130So let's see if I've got this right. People are coming…
Sep 17, 2012 at 6:25 pm #1913134me +1
Sep 17, 2012 at 9:32 pm #1913197What are we looking at for weather this year?
Sep 17, 2012 at 9:35 pm #1913199Mid to low 40's and about 80 during the day. Looks like we are in a big high so should be clear and dry. Bring sunscreen.
Sep 19, 2012 at 7:28 am #1913621Sounds good. I am +1 if it matters. Sandra decided to come meet the bad influences I've been hanging around with *cough* KEN *cough* ;)
Sep 19, 2012 at 8:57 pm #1913915So you'll have to behave then Jacob.
Just over a week away. Any questions? I'll be taking off next Thursday(not tomorrow), so don't wait until then.
