Paddle blades in carry-on luggage?

Heading to Alaska next week. Does anyone have experience with transporting paddle blades in carry-on? I'll be checking the shaft in a separate rod case, but would love to keep the blades with me as I'm traveling with relatively minimal luggage.

edit- For anyone interested, yup.
