I'm doing a 10 day trip in Kings Canyon starting June 22nd, starting at roads end, up woods creek, then following the JMT over Glen, Forester, and cutting back over Colby pass to return via sphinx.
Here's my clothing setup, please feel free to offer suggestions:
Worn while hiking:
Top:
Arcteryx phase SL base crew (hot weather)
R1 hoody (for cold passes)
Stoic Wraith windshirtBottom:
Phase SL boxers
Arcteryx Palisades pantsFeet:
Rei synthetic liner socks
Defeet Woolie Boolie socks
Merrell Moab GTX midHead:
OR sun runner hat
MH Micro dome beanie.Hands:
Seirus gloves, water resistant (not sure which model).Sunglasses:
Still looking for decent lightweight ones.In my pack:
Montbell ex down light Jacket
Arcteryx phase SV bottoms
Arcteryx phase SL T-shirt
Sierra designs hurricane pants (looking to replace with montbell versalite to save weight)
Marmot nano jacket (Gtx paclite)
Extra pair of Rei liner socks
Extra pair of Woolie Boolie socksI guess it's hard to tell the weather now, but I'm wondering if I'll be warm enough around camp.
Apr 11, 2012 at 10:30 am #1866144I think your clothing lineup looks great. the 4 layers (base/R1/EX/shell) should keep you warm around camp. I have been up there and had a similar setup and I was warm, I had a Cap 3, merino long sleeve, MH nitrous hoody and a Paclite shell.

What temps did you experience in your clothing system?I know it's too early to tell, but does anyone have any predictions for temps and snow pack for this area in late June? (specifically the passes, like Forester, Colby, etc)
We can start taking bets ;)
