Howdy,
I've got a few ideas for this in mind (most prominently the Joyce Kilmer/Slickrock area), but I thought I'd throw a post out and see what other folks chime in with. Doesn't have to be too strictly Western NC – just looking to keep the drive at 4 hours or less from Charlotte, NC (the shorter the better obviously). The loop factor is important as I'd like to avoid the shuttle scene. Distance-wise, 40 is about right – but anything around there, give or take a few miles, would be mighty fine. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!
