Years ago, there was the unofficial title of the World's Fastest Human, which was who held the record in the 100 yard dash. The record got precariously close to 9 seconds flat, but alas it really hasn't been run in decades. Bolt ran 28 feet further, but it took him .58 longer than that 9 flat threshold. You could extrapolate Bolts time and come up with 8.87 seconds for 100 yards, but that is not accurate. Also in any elite race you have add the mental aspect of competition. 100 yards or meters? Apples to oranges. Also track surfaces, equipment and training have all changed. But it would be nice to compare a progression of the great sprinters on a standard scale. Progress!
