perhaps best suited for the cycling forum,
    but indirectly related.
has anyone any experience with crafting a (removable) padded liner, as to make a traditional garment, cycling-approriate? i'm trying to multi-purpose a pair of capris to sneak through fall. would a seamstress be necessary? needle and thread aren't my gig.

You can buy padded liner shorts – like a thinner cycling short made to wear under clothing.

REI also makes a short liner that's pretty good. It dries fast, and the chamois is thinner and less obtrusive than standard bike shorts. I use it for hike a bike intensive and multisport adventures, under standard hiking pants/shorts.

Tri shorts also work well in this application.
