Howdy,
I've never used a rectangular tarp before (I have an a-frame cat tarp) but I'd like to try it out. I'm thinking a 6 x 8 would be cool size to try out for solo use. What I'm wondering about is the ridgeline. I can use less fabric (see – less $$) if the ridgeline runs parallel to the 6 foot sides as opposed to the longer 8 foot sides. Is sewing the ridgeline along the 8 foot parallel better/stronger than sewing along the 6 foot parallel? If the type of pitch is a factor, I'd say I'm looking for whatever is most versatile – I'm looking to experiment with pitches.
I want to make sure I've got a solid tarp but if I can save a little money and get the same result, why not right? I'd appreciate any insight. Thanks!
