Good point. I have the Katabatic Gear Bristlecone Bivy. It's a fixture in my ultralight setup for the reasons Sean outlined. Tarp is for bad weather and so only comes out then, otherwise sleeping inside the Bivy is perfect on most nights, provides the views, protects from condensation, bugs/mice, wind. At 7oz it's a perfect shelter for most nights.
