Gents,
Are there any narrow flamed stoves out there for this cup? I've tried a few stoves (penny etc.) but the flame is too wide and goes around the sides. Any ideas for a flame that goes mostly under?regards,
MikeJul 15, 2011 at 2:57 pm #1759745Look for a non-pressurized, top burner. Side burner with flames jetting out = wasted fuel.

You might want to check the Trail Designs website (www.traildesigns.com) for a matching Caldera Cone and stove. The cone will hold your SP700 at just the right height and is a great windscreen. I think the whole kit runs about $35.

Thank you for the input, I'll check those out.regards,
MikeJul 15, 2011 at 3:53 pm #1759766easy to make and easy in use is the ion stove (slow but efficient)
http://hikinghq.net/ionstove/index.htm
I tried the vulcanostove (make a search on this site)
sometimes he became very unstable

A good concept but not so easy in use
Now i use esbitJul 15, 2011 at 5:59 pm #1759795The Gram Weenie Pro will work. Also, Zelphs Venom Super Stove will work. I have both of these stoves and they work with my Backcountry 700 ml Ti pot which is slightly narrower than the SP 700.
Jul 15, 2011 at 6:23 pm #1759800Chad,
Just to help out the OP, do you use any kind of a pot support?
Jul 15, 2011 at 6:25 pm #1759801Gents,
This looks like it might do the trick nicely. There is a youtube video of him using it on a SP 700 too.

MikeJul 15, 2011 at 6:32 pm #1759803There is also a titanium version…..
Jul 15, 2011 at 6:43 pm #1759813I use the venom stove from zelph on my SP700 and it works great. Not in Ti though, but its only 10 dollars and will last a long time.
Jul 15, 2011 at 6:57 pm #1759820No I do not use a pot support with either of these stoves. They sit directly on the stoves.
Jul 15, 2011 at 7:22 pm #1759831I made a penny stove for use with my Trek700. Instead of making the jet holes outside the rim of the base I put them inside the rim. This causes the jets to fire all into the middle. It works pretty well in my opinion.
Jul 15, 2011 at 8:32 pm #1759850I use the Evernew Ti stove with my SP 700 and it works very well, with or without the pot stand.

sometimes he became very unstableA nice copy, Thanks for posting.

Jul 15, 2011 at 10:17 pm #1759879IMO you would be best off with a simple open burner, something along the lines of the Ion, a chimney style, or your Flatcat. The pressurized side burners and Venom stoves all suffered from poor efficiency with narrow pots. I was about to give up on narrow pots altogether before I settled on a caldera cone setup.
Jul 15, 2011 at 10:17 pm #1759880I actually did something pretty similar to what Mitchell did for my Snow Peak that works pretty well, too. I'm toying with idea of getting a Venom stove though. I like the idea of a one size fits all stove.
Jul 16, 2011 at 9:24 am #1759948Cobalt Blue Soloist from Zelphs stove. Works great with my SP 600.
Jul 16, 2011 at 10:40 am #1759963I have the Trek 700 and I use a caldera cone ti-tri ULC (with included stove). It works great. I also have just the regular caldera cone and it is even more efficient than the ULC. I highly recommend.
Jul 16, 2011 at 11:06 am #1759970Just to throw another option into the mix. I have both the snowpeak 700 and 900. I have a Bushcooker LT 1 from fourdogstoves.com that works like a champ. It is primarily a woodgas stove but I use alcohol quite often in it, you can use esbit as well.
Jul 16, 2011 at 1:29 pm #1759996I do what mitchel said but I used a v8 can works real well with my 700
Jul 23, 2011 at 3:47 pm #1762395Michael,
FYI, I am the owner of FLAT CAT GEAR. If you send me your PM, I will give you insights as to where we are at in terms of supporting 700 ml mugs.
Best regards,
Jon
Jul 23, 2011 at 5:26 pm #1762416DIY chimney stoves are great for small pots (i used with SP600). Zen stoves has plans, it does need a pot stand and windscreen, sure you can make a screen that does both.

Jul 23, 2011 at 5:53 pm #1762419I use zelph's cobalt blue stove as well. It works well.
Jul 24, 2011 at 7:00 am #1762501Flame-like annular eclipse is not suitable for narrow pots.
Good fuel stove is the center of the pot roast.
Carbon Felt insert crumpled aluminum cans with screw cap.
Burning time means the volume of the bottle.
Changes the intensity of the fire raised the amount of carbon felt.
Erasable fire just a cover.
When cold, the fuel can be easily lubricated. In Japan, this form is commonly known as aromax stove.
Difficult process is not required.
Fuel flow out the killing.
Whenever the hot water, no need for fuel metering. -
