Hey all so here's my pack for my upcomoing Colorado Trail Hike, it's 486 miles over 30 days. I'm going to be doing 3 resupplies but the pack weight/gear will stay approx. the same through all 3. I plan on 3000cal/day for food at about 1.5pounds/day.(all listed in 1 lump sum as "food"). Let me know what you think.

Jul 1, 2011 at 7:16 pm #1755222Good list. I'm doing the southern 1/2 of the CT in July.
Just 3 suggestions:
I'd get a long-handled Lexan spoon in place of the unreliable Light My Fire spork.
And I'd eliminate all cotton clothing in favor of polyester or nylon, especially the underwear.
Try more "Freezer Bag" cooking recipies for better flavor. GOOGLE the website for recipies or buy Sara's book.
Your Contrail tent is a good choice. I had one but now I have a TT Moment.
Jul 2, 2011 at 11:25 am #1755363Thanks Eric,
I'm starting it Aug. 15th and hopefully finishing mid September. I will replace that stupid spork, you're right, I've broken 2 of those flimsy things already. As far as "food" goes I have a pretty good selection of Backpackers Pantry, Rice, Noodles, and Trail Mix. I think 3,000 cal/day is enough, we'll see. 11 pounds for 7 days is a bit on the light side, but worst case I can go hungry a day or 2.
I probably won't see you on the trail, let me know how it goes.

Long handled spoo is perfect for stirring/eating from FD or boiling bags without getting your fingers in the food. Let me suggest you get the stronger, easier to clean and sanitize titanium model rather than a lexan version. REI carries them.
