Recently I purchased on E Bay a Kestrel 2500 described as having scratches at the front and rear.
It was delivered as described…
The scratches are caused by the case. The display was still easy to read but depending on the reflection on the screen those marks were a bit annoying.
So I used some Cream Cut and Polish to buff them out.
Most were eliminated in a few minutes by hand then I finished the job with a Dremel .
There are probably better ways of doing this but it was good enough for me.

It was meant to be scratched Perspex/AcylicJun 15, 2011 at 5:29 pm #1749733In the U.S. Brasso metal polish does similar polishing. Recommended for polishing scratched DVDs. Works well.
Jun 15, 2011 at 5:33 pm #1749735Hi
Glad to know
I had a choice of that Cream thingo , Brasso and Silvo . I started with the cream (car polish…) and that did the job .
Easier than I thought it would be.

I've used a "screen protector" sheet to absorb the abuse of cases, and general wear and tear. Are they all the same, or do you have a favorite?
Thanks.
Jun 15, 2011 at 5:39 pm #1749739For final polish Simichrome used to be the gold standard. It has some wax in it as well. BMW motorcycle freaks used it on all the chrome and polished alloy stuff. It is great to bring plastics back from the dead. At the local DVD rental shop they have a $1000 polisher that produces inferior results to the Brasso!

What is the display material on the back of a Canon G10?
Perspex, or glass?I got a number of scuff marks that I'd like to loose.
Brasso to the rescue?Thanks
Jun 15, 2011 at 5:56 pm #1749744Not sure about the G10. Judging by the finger marks I would say it is glass..

FrancoSome caution using car polishes on Perspex, I work perspex for a living I have always use Brasso to polish perspex, a colleague once used some car polish, looked good at the time but whatever they put in the car polish eventually cause the surface of the perspex to get lots of micro cracks in it, it was so bad we could not see through it.
If the scratch is bad I try 1200 wet and dry first and if very deep I use 400 then 1200 then brasso.
