I am looking for another usa made headlamp besides surefire.
Suggestions? Thanks.
May 5, 2011 at 9:16 pm #1733602Princeton Tec headlamps claim to be "Made in USA" or at least "Assembled in USA". They cost a lot less then Surefire lights too.
May 5, 2011 at 9:42 pm #1733616Don't know about that. The Byte clearly says made in China. Not sure on the other models.
May 5, 2011 at 9:49 pm #1733618Yeah, the Byte is but according to REI the EOS LED and Remix are US made:

Maybe they're moving/moved production to China?
May 5, 2011 at 9:53 pm #1733620Maybe thats why my Eos rocks and the Byte I bought is a piece of crap going back to REI.
May 5, 2011 at 10:09 pm #1733627Princeton Tec Remix with white and red LEDs. I love mine. Good for when the Petzl e-Lite is not enough.
May 5, 2011 at 11:41 pm #1733651PT Scout, EOS and Quad are all in my packs.
The little Scout is my fav for summer backpacking.
May 5, 2011 at 11:46 pm #1733652I will look into the eos.
I am a little surprised no body has mentioned surefire here and else where on the forum.
May 5, 2011 at 11:52 pm #1733654How does the eos do around camp too?
does it give a good throw?
Any other suggestions?
May 6, 2011 at 5:20 am #1733669The Surefires are not inexpensive, and not so light. I would be surprised if anyone here was carrying one.
May 6, 2011 at 7:47 am #1733715Throw is what the EOS does best…I have the old version and it's still awesome.
May 6, 2011 at 7:54 am #1733719It weighs about 3oz, has variable output from 1-100 lumens and is a great performer. The MSRP is $140, but you can find them cheaper, and its built like a tank. Surefire also has great customer service/returns policy if anything goes wrong.
May 6, 2011 at 10:45 am #1733799I really want a light too that has great flood ability for reading and around camp too.
May 6, 2011 at 9:54 pm #1734060I've been using the Minimus for a while now and really like it. It works great year round in any type of conditions. However, the biggest reason I keep using it is the beam. The flood and center spot angles and intensities in the beam are perfect for hiking. I have an EOS as well, but prefer the beam of the SF.
May 6, 2011 at 11:18 pm #1734086very interesting to hear. Would you be able to do a mini review of both?
What eos do you have? Thanks.
