I am seriously considering hiking the Oregon Section of the PCT this summer. I am looking to doing it during the month of July. Is this feasible? Is this too early in the year? I know mosquitoes are worse during this time, but I am wondering about snow levels etc. My goal would be to hike it in 4 weeks, doing about 15-20 miles a day. Thanks!

    Locale: Oregon and Washington

A ton of snow July 1 where the PCT goes by Mt. Hood, July 30 it depends on the year, but still probably a lot of snow.

July 30 is about the earliest I usually try to get up there.

There are these canyons with drifted snow so there are really steep places of icy snow you have to negotiate.

I think you're about one month early.

That's what I was afraid of. I would most likely be hiking North bound. Unforutanatley my only opportunity to hike it, is during July.

I do not know much of Southern Oregon. I am assuming Mt Thielson, and Crater Lake would have quite a bit of snow in early July as well. Probably more than Mt. Hood.
