Has anyone tried liquid glue or iron on tape on silnylon?

looks like it might work.

Apr 12, 2011 at 5:11 pm #1723762If I had to guess, neither of the above tapes will work with sil because the tapes are not silicone based. At least as far as I know cuben is not silicone coated or impreg. neither is your average spinnaker fabric.
Go to pg 57 in this pdf for a silicone based tape.
http://www.sail-making.com/dbimgs/us/03_USA_Hardware_063_132.pdfI'm sure you could just bond sil together with silicone rtv and sew through it after it dried.
Good luck,
REDApr 13, 2011 at 7:51 am #1723976i have used clear 100% silicon sealant as a glue and it worked great. It is heavy and only good for small areas as it isn't very flexible but i used it to attach mid panel tie-outs to an old tarp/tent i made when i started making gear. I also used it un-thinned to seam-seal and other than being heavy it worked fine. Jim Colten i believe gave me the advice on using it as a glue and it worked very well.

Thanks for the shameless plug. Very good info. I read every bit of it.

Correct. ONLY a siloxane adhesive will bond to silnylon, and you should allow 3 days for curing.
Cheers
