In preparation for a through hike next year (that I would love to take this year but I need to finish school first) I've been reading trail journals to try and tide me over. With adzpctko coming up and everyone gearing up to head out, it's becoming very tempting to just leave right now and say screw the rest of the semester. Do you guys know of any other websites/blogs etc that talk about long distance hiking, or maybe just your favorite trail journals? I need something to keep me sane for another 11 months.

Also, after watching the DVDs about the pct by scott herriott, I wanted to know if the 20year old finished the triple crown. She was supposed to be the youngest to do it, and if she didn't then who currently is?

Reading journals will not keep you sane. They will make you crazier.

Here are some good ones I've read/watched recently:

Can you tell what trail I've been thinking about lately?

Well, I'm not getting any work done today :).
Weekend trips are also doing a great job of holding me over. I've gotten out 4 weekends in the last 7 weeks for at least an overnight. Next trip longer than that will be in april for a yo-yo of the lost coast going nice and slow with someone who's new to backpacking. 11 more months, 11 more months, 11 more months :). Maybe it's all this rainy weather that's making me crazy right now

I can't believe no one has mentioned
    http://www.trailjournals.com

Its probably the biggest 'clearinghouse' of Long Distance Hiking journals.

Probably because I mentioned it in the first post :). But still looking for some standouts in there, what are some of your favorite ones?

oops, sorry about that. I didn't realize trail journals meant 'trailjournals.com'.
I think alot of them are great. I tend to gravitate towards journals by 1st time hikers with lots of pictures. Its like 'virtual hiking' for me, a person stuck in Florida with a once/year backpacking trip allotment from the wife.

    http://www.andrewskurka.com/ is a "local" favorite.

    This is a favorite:

But I agree that reading journals makes it worse for me instead of better.

These are two of my favorite journals. They are from two people that hiked the PCT together in 2006. I find it interesting to see two different perspectives on the same events.
