Edited 27 April 2011, lowered prices.
I have a package for sale consisting of:
Hammock: Blackbird Double Layer 1.1oz – $135 incl. shipping to US -SOLD
Tarp: Big Mamajamba (silnylon) – $70 incl. shipping to US -SOLD
Quilt: 3-Season Yeti – $140 incl. shipping to US -SOLD
Or a total price for the complete package: only $310, including shipping to US.
Payment or questions to my Paypal email timo at fullcontrol dot se.
All of the items are in top condition and they were bought from warbonnetoutdoors around May/June 2010.
I have used them only around 1 week.
This year I plan to do some hiking in the swedish mountains, so I want to fund some new gear suitable for those surroundings (no trees so a hammock will not work…).

Based on several of the people I've backpacked with over the years who prefered hammocks at some point, many of them later sold or gave up on their hammock ways. I know some of you are die-hard hangers but I'm kind of curious about the atrition rate and return to the ground for many of you.
Edit: Didn't intend to hijack the thread. Think of this as a rhetorical question/insight.Apr 14, 2011 at 7:29 am #1724434

Well, for me the biggest reason is that I like to have gear which can also be used above the tree-line (in the swedish mountains mainly, since I live in Sweden). Another reason is that I am trying out different ways of lightweight backpacking and now I am leaning to getting versatile gear. For example, a shaped tarp without floor, which can be combined with a bug bivy/bug net or a bivy, if I arrive to a shelter at the trail I can just use the bivy and leave the tarp in the pack. In the mountains both the tarp and the bivy can be used for extra wind protection and added warmth. In the forest early spring/late autumn (almost no bugs) I can leave the bivy at home and take just the tarp. There is a lot of combinations.Apr 15, 2011 at 5:49 am #1724799
Timo, the versatility you talk about here is exactly why I love the tarp/bivy combo. I'm excited to get out to backpack in Sweden. I move to the general area next year and will be keen on finding the right trails.Apr 15, 2011 at 7:52 am #1724831
