I have a chance to snag either a 1957 Singer featherweight 221 or 301 ( not sure the year) at a good price. The 301 can handle heavier fabrics and has a built in motor…but weighs 19lbs. The FW weighs 11 lbs and can do thicker stuff but the motor isn't as strong. The 301 is much cheaper. I will be using it for fleece sewing, some of my camping gear, that sort of thing. Also for maybe quilting.
Which would be the better choice? Both are in excellent working order.

Look here for more info on the two.http://blog.sew-classic.com/2009/03/14/classic-singer-301-301a-vintage-sewing-machine-review.aspx
