"This map tells the whole story:
http://sierrawild.gov/bears/food-storage-map"Well, no it doesn't.
It is a 2009 map.
On the Inyo National Forest site the Order for food protection can be found, and after a little hacking, it looks like thisIt does not say "Canister", it says "Container", which MAY{?} include an Ursack.
Clarification is needed.
Edit: the Modified Language reference should read "Page 1 of 3, below the Order"
Nov 26, 2010 at 7:50 pm #1668224Greg, that forest service order was in effect only until October 31, 2010.

Nov 26, 2010 at 7:52 pm #1668226That is correct – the 2010 hiking season. Not 2009.
A new Order will be issued before May of 2011. I doubt if the language will revert.
Clarification is needed.
