I've heard that roasting nuts in olive oil can be a good way to increase energy density. Does anyone have a good recipe/procedure? Would you do this in an oven, or a pan on a stovetop? How hot should the oil be? How long does it take for the nuts to absorb the oil? Is this like deep-frying, or do you just coat the nuts with oil? Will they be messy and sticky afterward?

Rather than doing this, could it make more sense simply to cook my own nut bars or something?

    Thanks!

you don't need to add olive oil to roast nuts. Just use a non stick frying pan on medium heat. They will not be messy or sticky, they will just have a toasted taste to them and that is all

The point is to add energy density.

But Benjamin, how much would a nut fried in olive oil benefit from that??? I just don't see that much of an increase. Nuts already are pretty heavy duty when it comes to caloric density
