    Hi Roger,

I was taking a look at the netting door in your tents. Looks like a simple and effective design.

Could you describe the "baffle" that is mentioned in your bushwalking website where the two sections overlap down the middle to make a seal?

    Thanks!

    Hi Daniel

Certainly. First, here's a pic with a diagram at the bottom.
    NettingDoors1

In the line drawing at the bottom:
The blue line represents the wall of the bathtub floor
The red line represents the right hand door
The green line represents the left hand door.

You will see that there is an overlapping baffle on the green door. This is usually adequate to block even persistent mossies.

The black blobs are the press-studs (snaps) visible in the pic. In fact they are a little more complex than the diagram or the picture shows. Each black blob represents two snaps. One snap goes from the green door to the blue wall. The second snap goes from the red door to the green door. The snaps hold the doors in place AND hold up the middle of the bathtub wall as well.

It is possible to be very cute and to use one snap for each place. The green door gets reinforced in the region of the snaps and small holes are cut, allowing one half of the snap on the red door to mate with the other half on the blue bathtub wall – through the hole. But this was a bit messy in the field. The weight of the extra plastic snap was trivial.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers

Hey, Thanks Roger, that line drawing is great, It's very clear now and I can see how it's put together.

    Thanks!

Hey, neat! Just out of curiosity, what are your reasons for this set up versus a regular zipper? Weight?
