I'd rather see them go down the highway on the back of a flat bed truck. Past fire hoses.

I am still looking for the article on the test of hiking boots in a cement mixer. Seriously.

I can see the headline now – "Hiker gets in trouble with the Mob!"

Are they ever going to get tired of pushing the bombproof thing?

And the point is? What real-life conditions are these meant to simulate?

How about an all-night snowstorm? See Roger's When Things Go Wrong article.

Also, durability, or at least perceived durability sells.

Hey, if you ever have to set your shelter up in a car wash, you're good to go.

    Why I don't subscribe to Backpacker anymore . . .

    Sigh,

If I set my car up in a car wash, I likely have more problems than just tent durability. Like why I'm not in the woods.

Pretty similar to how they test for hydrostatic head in the lab….except without the soap.

I see the dumbos at Backpacker Magazine didn't notice that the Golite Valhalla 2+ Shelter is not labeled or advertised as a "mountaneering" tent. It offers "weather protection, unparalleled space-to-weight ratio, and superb durability." but I just hate how they beat the crap out of Golite's reputation.

Ugh watching that video makes me want to upchuck almost as much as whenever our dearest President speaks to the public. -_-

    cheers

I thought it was a fun video but I would have rather seen them do a sustained test of 24 hours than a high-powered spray of 3-5 minutes. That would have given a better picture of how well the tents would stand up in a real-life situation.

Evan – the Golite was spraying (spraying!) water from where it was taped. That sucks. If I owned one and it leaked like that I would want to upchuck.

Regardless, the others are more waterproof.

Golite contends the tent is 4 season.
