Locale: Founder & Lead Moderator, https://www.facebook.com/groups/SierraNorthPCThikersHas anyone had surgery for hammertoe problem? It is called Hammertoe arthroplasty. See:
I am scheduled to have it done within a month. On my JMT hike this year, I hiked with a doctor who noticed the problem I had, which was that after about 7 miles of hiking, my right foot would start to hurt and slow me down to half my normal pace. Some days it got quite painful. I did finish the JMT but decided to see a Podiatric Surgeon afterwards. My foot was x-rayed and I could see how severe the problem was. I'm told afterwards, that I won't be able to hike for 3 months. I'm curious if others have had this problem and how well they could hike after the 3 months of healing. Thanks.
