    Date Maple Nut Instant Oatmeal

    3 cups quick cooking oatmeal
    10 teaspoons maple sugar granules
    5 teaspoons brown sugar blend Splenda
    1 cup walnuts
    10 teaspoons chopped dates

    To make individual instant packets:
    Process 1/2 cup oats in blender on high until powdery.
    Into 10 ziplock bags combine the following ingredients:
    2 – 4 teaspoons powdered oats (divide into an equal amount)
    1/4 cup unpowdered oats
    1/2 teaspoon brown sugar blend Splenda
    1 teaspoon maple sugar granules
    1-1/2 tablespoons walnuts
    2 teaspoons chopped dates

    To serve, empty packet into a bowl. Add 3/4 cup boiling water. Stir and let stand for 2 minutes. Adjst water amount for thicker or thinner oatmeal.

    Each serving contains:
    204.4 calories
    26.4 Gm carbohydrates
    1.1 Gm fiber
    7 Gm protein
    8.6 Gm fat

    reginald. your recipe sounds great, but may i give a suggestion? add a protein powder(either whey or soy) to up the protein. it doesn't alter the flavor all that much. thanks for the recipe…

    You are absolutely correct. Vanilla flavored whey powder goes great with the Christmas Granola!

    Great recipe!

    I've been using maple and dates together for a long time in our hot breakfasts. My son just adores it on a cold winter morning before we walk to school. I love the flavors.

    Another really great way to up the protein is to use quinoa instead of oatmeal. It works really well and gives you all of your aminos.
