Edited – removed link.
Some of you know that I have been writing a backcountry cook book. It is now available through Lulu.
Included in the book:
20 Breakfast recipes
24 Lunch recipes (and tons of snack and trail mix recipes!)
15 Soup recipes – Vegetarian and not
36 Dinner recipes – Vegetarian and not
16 Dessert recipes (with lots of variations)
18 Beverage recipes (including some "adult" drinks)
Menus & meal planning
Sources and ingredients listsNO dehydrator required.
All recipes take 15 minutes or less to prepare (except for a few make at home recipes)
ALL ingredients you can find in the regular grocery store.I also have lots of freebie recipes on my site:

specifically item number 7 under the chat/message board policies.
Sep 3, 2008 at 7:03 am #1449732I'm sorry, I wasn't aware that you were a moderator here.
Sep 3, 2008 at 7:08 am #1449733Maybe edit the post to remove the ecommerce link then?
Sep 3, 2008 at 7:09 am #1449734I will do that. A link to MY site is okay?
Sep 3, 2008 at 7:14 am #1449735Title Quote from Dicentra… "One Pan Wonders – The book is now available!"
Body Quote from Dicentra "Some of you know that I have been writing a backcountry cook book. It is now available through Lulu."
This is still blatant advertising – link or no link.
Quote from Dicentra "I did make a note of appology before I posted."
An apology doesn't make it acceptable and it is a direct violation of the terms here.
Sep 3, 2008 at 7:14 am #1449736Does it have the recipes on? ;-)
Sep 3, 2008 at 7:16 am #1449738There are hundreds of recipes on the site. Go have fun!
Sep 3, 2008 at 7:18 am #1449739Cool. Free recipes should attract people to your site who might then see an ad for your book. :-)
Sep 3, 2008 at 7:25 am #1449742perhaps this will help you…
from http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-bin/backpackinglight/policies.html#chat
"You agree not to submit, upload or post to a chat/message board any content which:

advertises or otherwise solicits funds or sales of goods or services."
Sep 3, 2008 at 8:17 am #1449747As some of you know, Dicentra and I are friends both online and in the real world :-) We met years ago on the BP.com forums and found out we lived nearby each other.
We both love cooking and hiking. After I started my website and wrote my book I would yammer at Di to do something with what she loved.
And for me I think it is so cool that she got it done after all these years!
We had a great trip section hiking on the PCT this past weekend (in the snow) talking food as usual – but mostly about her excitement ;-)
Sep 3, 2008 at 9:06 am #1449753Sarbar didn't even slap my fingers when she saw that I used the term "Freezerbag Cooking" without the copyright symbol.
She took the cover photo of the book. I owe a lot to her. :)
Sep 3, 2008 at 10:09 am #1449759Congratulations on getting your book published !
I think "no dehydrator required" could be a great selling point for people looking to throw together meals quickly.
Sep 3, 2008 at 10:46 am #1449765Congratulations!
I wish there was a book on no-cook recipes that require 'no dehydrator' AND 'no oven'. I have neither. We use a microwave at home.
may be too much to ask for? :)
Sep 3, 2008 at 11:42 am #1449775It is typically preferred not to start a new thread specifically devoted to advertising a product. Mention of a product or resource in reference to questions asked in threads is generally considered okay as long as you are respectful of others.
Sep 3, 2008 at 11:49 am #1449777Sorry, I'm just excited. :)
Sep 3, 2008 at 11:51 am #1449779Thank you for your concern. We take great pride in keeping things civil around here.
Sep 3, 2008 at 11:53 am #1449780You'll have no trouble from me, sir! ;)
Sep 3, 2008 at 12:03 pm #1449782Thank you Sam… that was my only real issue as I do understand Dicentra's excitement and do wish her the best with the new book.
Sep 3, 2008 at 1:17 pm #1449794Thanks you for posting you website- it will be helpful for me and the scouts I work with. Maybe next time have Sarah announce Dicentra's book. That way someone else is giving information about the book without having to plug you own material. There are many posts on this forum giving information about different useful things.
Sep 3, 2008 at 1:19 pm #1449795You have mail. :)
Sep 3, 2008 at 3:19 pm #1449823Yes, well, I guess this is advertising something on the wrong channel. It would have been 100% acceptable on the Gear Deals channel of course.
That said, I can see the high relevance of the posting on this channel. Since there has already been lots of interest in the subject I am going to be very laid-back about it and do … nothing.
Any further ads for this book (or anything else) should be on Gear Deals however, and this posting does not mean we have relaxed our rules. We cheerfully admit to being a bit inconsistent at times.
Cheers

Online Community MonitorSep 3, 2008 at 3:27 pm #1449825Mostly I posted here b/c this is where I hang out… I'm not in gear much. Plus (at least in my mind) it has more to do with food than gear.
Oh well. No worries. :)
Sep 3, 2008 at 3:34 pm #1449826> that was my only real issue as I do understand Dicentra's excitement and do wish her the best with the new book.
Thank you Laurie.

Online Community MonitorSep 3, 2008 at 6:34 pm #1449857Rules, schmules. Look for my order in your to do list!
Congrats on the release. It's disappointing to see the competition castigate rather than congratulate.
Best of luck.
