    Cheers, I was originally trying to come up with something I could perhaps sell, but it ended up being so simple it seemed silly to keep it to myself, and I'd not heard of it being done before.

    I wonder if this would work better/worse with elastic shock-cord instead of nylon cord?

    I think it could be an improvement. I showed it to a friend a while ago and he made one with shock cord. If you get the lenghts right it can fit over a bigger range of canister sizes, and isn't a lot less stable.
    It can also be used in conjunction with the bases sold by MSR, Jetboil etc.
