Hi, My first post here. Just thought I'd share an idea I've come up with to stabilise gas canister mounted stoves. Have a look at my video on YouTube:

its almost not piece of gear so much as a technique.May 17, 2008 at 4:55 am #1433676Thanks for the tip. Excellent.
May 17, 2008 at 9:20 am #1433691Cheers, I was originally trying to come up with something I could perhaps sell, but it ended up being so simple it seemed silly to keep it to myself, and I'd not heard of it being done before.
May 18, 2008 at 1:29 pm #1433795Indeed!
May 18, 2008 at 2:15 pm #1433800I wonder if this would work better/worse with elastic shock-cord instead of nylon cord?
Very clever technique.
May 18, 2008 at 2:56 pm #1433802I think it could be an improvement. I showed it to a friend a while ago and he made one with shock cord. If you get the lenghts right it can fit over a bigger range of canister sizes, and isn't a lot less stable.
It can also be used in conjunction with the bases sold by MSR, Jetboil etc. -
