Good job! I like the solid fuel stand. How much does it weigh?
The videos show your work is a success.

For some reason, I never bothered to try before now. The Jetboil rests perfectly on a BPL tri-wing solid fuel stand. It also rests on top of a Gram Weenie Pro stove. With no windscreen and using only my body as a shield in a light breeze, an ounce (30ml) of alcohol in the Gram weenie Pro stove was able to bring 2 cups of water almost to boiling. Several bubbles were coming to the top, but it was not a rolling boil. I did take off the neoprene cozy as flames surely would have burned it if I had not removed it. I put it back on immediately after removing from the stove.
If nothing else, it's a good excuse to make a cup of hot chocolate. Also, it a good reminder to grab a windscreen with the stove next time. For Jetboil users, check out a hacked up "shorty" Jetboil at http://beyondx.exblog.jp/8746055/
I notice the lip is missing, but it does appear to shave about 81 grams (2.85 ounces) off the original weight, including removal of the handle.
I don't use the Jetboil often, usually at work when I'm on job sites or customer sites around the state. It isn't exactly UL, but it's too convenient to ignore some days.May 3, 2008 at 9:58 am #1431408I have thought of lightening the jetboil. I would cut bits off the steel base under the burner rather than shorten the pot. I usually cook for 2. Steel is much heavier than Aluminium. There is quite large bits that could be cut off without changing the air flow. Jetboil are not really designing for light weight.
May 3, 2008 at 12:58 pm #1431438This is cool. Any other tips for reducing weight on the Jetboil? Thanks, folks.
