Locale: Cascades and Oregon Coast Range

Here's photos from an overnight trip I took a couple of weeks ago on the Deschutes River. I traveled the lower section of the river, which empties
into the Columbia about a dozen miles
east of The Dalles, Oregon. This
area is close to sea level and is usually snow free. Highs in mid 50's,
    low was 37F.
    Notable Gear:
    GG Mariposa
    Golite PonchoTarp
    LaFuma 30* down mummy bag
    Equinox Ultralight Bivy Cover
All photographs are from my Pentax
    Optio WP.

The walls of the valley are 1500 ft.
    high.

Along the trail, some tiny wildflowers are blooming. I don't think that this is the main season for that- I was a little early for the bigger displays.

The trail is an old railroad grade converted into a road for the DNR
to access the area. Along the grade
    are several abandoned railroad cars.
I suspect these were left along the
trail to house the workers who
took up the track, but I don't
    really know.

This was the night of the lunar
eclipse, but the moon came out
behind some clouds too late for
me to get a photo of that. But it
was bright out that night! I could
see the shadow of my hand on the
    ground, and count my fingers.

It was a beautiful trip out in the
    "high desert." Thanks for reading.
