Paul Johnson and anyone else in the Connecticut area,
Reminder I will be participating in the Mystic Outdoor Art Festival this coming weekend in Mystic, CT August 13 & 14. My photo booth – All of Outdoor Nature and Landscape Photos from throughout the US will be on display in Booth # 57 near the Army Navy Surplus store on West Main Street.
If you are unfamiliar, this is one of the largest Art Shows in New England drawing about 60,000 – 70,000 attendees. Be prepared for traffic.
My work can be seen at http://www.nelridge.com/
I have to limit what can be seen on the website; to really appreciate the photos, you must see them in person. All the work was taken on slide/transparency film with Leica 35 mm SLRs, Linhof 4″ x 5″ cameras, or a Rollei TLR camera. All images have been digitally printed to Fuji Crystal Archive Photo paper by way of either an $80,000 or $250,000 digital printer.
Images displayed at the show in Mystic will be printed as large as 30″ x 37.5″ (this image, “Dead Horse Point State Park” which is totally in focus from foreground through background looks into the distance of more than 35 miles into the Island in the Sky section of Canyonlands, NP near Moab, UT). My images can be printed, on the machines mentioned above, to 40″ or 50″ x 50″ and some of the panoramic images that will not be on display can print to 48″ x 96″.
Anyone attending from the BPL community will receive a discount of 10% on any purchase at the show. Anything out of stock will be shipped.
Look forward to meeting Paul and his wife at the show and anyone else from the BPL community.

How late is the show open on Sunday? It turns out that this is the weekend my wife and I are going to be away. It’s only Marblehead, MA (north of Boston). I’m hoping to take a diff. route back on Sunday that will bring me through Mystic.
Richard is correct, for anyone planning to be there. Sunday eve. traffic, heading West on I-95 can be horrendous, esp. on Sundays & holidays, even more so in the summer – weekenders heading home fr/Cape Cod & Rhode Island Beaches, not to mention the two Casinos. I-95 is, mostly, only 2 lanes in each direction out in eastern CT – in places/at times bumper-to-bumper/stop-and-go – can add an up to an hour to the drive fr/Mystic to New Haven (~50-55 miles distance).Aug 9, 2005 at 2:23 am #1340098

The Mystic show runs until 5:00 PM on Sunday. This Art Festival consists of about 250 artists (including photographers) and about 50 craft exhibitors. One of the advantages of this show for people that like photography is there are generally between 40 and 55 photographers exhibiting. A lot of competition certainly. You will also have the opportunity to see the differences in quality of the finished products by the different photographers and artists. Regardless of the location (the Connecticut shore), I still generally do well and sell mostly photos of Colorado, Utah, the Adirondaks, and Shenandoah NP at this venue. I present a very high end product which is available at a moderate price. When my work starts to become available through galleries the photos will be much more expensive.
If you can not make it and you are willing to go to the other side of the state, I will be participating in the Art and Craft Show at Danbury Fair Mall Wednesday through Sunday August 24-28 (I hate mall hours). This is one of the few malls in which I still exhibit (2-3 times per year; this year only twice). My booth will be in Center Court near the fountain; and of course Eastern Mountain Sports is right down the hall from my booth. I do not like to participate in shows in malls, but I have exhibited in Danbury for years, I have a following and I no longer have any competition at this location.
You would have more leisure to look and talk in Danbury. You can also check my website for the exhibit schedule for the remainder of the year. I will probably be adding perhaps 2? more locations in the latter part of 2005.
Also, if you want to send me an e-mail, feel free at firstname.lastname@example.org.
